Rick Hinck grew up in Washburn, Il, the son of a cabinetmaker. He graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in Industrial Technology In 1970. He taught Industrial Arts at Illinois Valley Central High School in Chillicothe, IL until 1974. After leaving education, he worked as a carpenter for a local builder quickly advancing to the lead position.

Rick's wife Marti also graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in business. In 1979 Rick and Marti entered into business for themselves.. In the early 1980's Rick and Marti's attention turned to energy efficient type construction brought on by the oil embargo. They pioneered "super-insulated" type housing in the Peoria area for several years following. This husband-wife team got busier as the recession eased and his business expanded. With an attention to detail and quality their reputation grew.

Marti

Today Rick Hinck Builders, Inc. builds approximately 15 custom homes per year in the Tri-County area. Marti received her real estate license in 1997 and is an agent for Trader's Realty while still an active partner with her husband in the housing business. Beginning in 1995 Rick and Marti has became active in residential land developments. They have recently sold out "Meadowview Estates" in East Peoria, opened phase I of "Sycamore Trail" in Chillicothe in the spring of 1999 as well as a new exclusive subdivision called "Hickory Woods" on the north side of Peoria.
